SAN PEDRO, Calif. — A fire at a ConocoPhillips oil refinery in San Pedro, Calif., consumed most of a two-story office building before it was contained Monday morning, The Los Angeles Times reported.
The fire was limited to the administrative building and did not affect any other refinery facilities, according to the article.
"This free-standing structure was located some distance away from the refinery itself," said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Matt Spence. "At no time was the refinery or any petroleum products in jeopardy."
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
