LITCHFIELD, Minn. — McDonald’s has informed Sparboe Egg Farms that it will no longer accept eggs from its facilities after an animal rights organization released undercover video footage of alleged animal cruelty, The Huffington Post reported.

In the undercover video shot by Mercy For Animals at the country’s fifth largest egg producer, various acts of animal cruelty were caught on tape.

In a statement sent to The Huffington Post, McDonald’s Vice President of Sustainability Bon Langert said, “McDonald''s expects all of our suppliers to meet our stringent requirements for delivering high quality food prepared in a humane and responsible manner. Based upon recent information, we have informed our direct supplier, Cargill, that we are no longer accepting eggs from its supplier, Sparboe. This decision is based on McDonald''s and Cargill''s concern regarding the management of Sparboe''s facilities.”
