New facility in Michigan to convert shredded paper to plastic

MIDLAND, Mich. — A $7 million manufacturing being built in Midland, Mich., will convert shredded paper into plastic pellets, MLive.com reported.

Midland-based Michigan Molecular Institute and Tokyo, Japan-based ECO Research Institute announced a joint venture Tuesday called Eco Bio Plastics Midland Inc.

The company plans to build a 38,000-square-foot manufacturing facility to initially produce 10 million pounds of plastic pellets annually.

The $7 million facility is being financed by the Japanese government.
