According to Bloomberg, possible bidders for 50 percent of French dairy products maker Yoplait SAS include General Mills Inc., PepsiCo Inc., Nestle SA and two Chinese companies: Bright Foods Group Shanghai Changjiang Corp. and China Mengniu Dairy Co., the Financial Times reported, without saying where it got the information. The stake will formally be put up for sale today by French private-equity firm PAI Partners, the newspaper said. The other 50 percent of Yoplait is owned by Sodiaal Industrie, a French farmers’ cooperative, the FT said. Last month, PAI and Sodiaal rejected a $1.8 billion offer for the whole of Yoplait by Groupe Lactalis, a private French dairy company, the newspaper said, adding that the French government, mindful of farmers’ political clout, doesn’t want French influence in Yoplait to be weakened.
