Business Wire reports that BOC''s carbon dioxide (CO2) production facility in Richmond, Calif., is celebrating 25 years that no employee has missed a single day''s work due to work-related injury since the plant opened in 1978. The Richmond facility purifies and liquefies the gaseous CO2 it produces and ships it in bulk to other BOC facilities for distribution to beverage manufacturers, where it is used for carbonation, or to food processors, for freezing and chilling applications. CO2 is also used for water purification and wastewater treatment, and has many other industrial applications. The BOC Group serves two million customers in more than 50 countries. It employs 46,000 people and had annual sales of some $6 billion in 2002.
