PUNE, India — Staffers at the Pavarti water treatment plant in Pune, India, discovered the body of one of their colleagues early Monday, The Indian Express reported.
According to the article, 44-year-old Ganesh B. Pasalkar was on his second shift at the treatment plant on Sunday as another employee did not show up for work.
Workers were checking valves Monday morning when they found Pasalkar’s body in the ninth filter of the plant.
Officials are treating the case as an apparent suicide.
“Every tank in the filtering plant has a safety railing,” said Assistant Police Inspector P. N. Wakchaure. “The possibility of a person accidentally falling into the tank is remote. Prima facie, it is a suicide case but we are not denying possibility of it being an accident.”
