ALBANY, Ga. — MillerCoors’ Albany, Ga.-brewery has won the Industrial Waste Water Treatment Plant of the Year Award, Fox 31 reported.
Presented by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals, the award recognizes MillerCoors for the outstanding operation of the brewery’s on-site 425-acre hay farming operation.
The facility treats 6 million gallons of water per day. Leftover solid material is then used as fertilizer.
“We’re able to apply the solid portion of our waste water treatment plant material to the hay field, both irrigating it and providing an organic supplement for the hay crops. It’s really a win win situation,” said Environmental Health and Safety expert David Dixon.
