WATERFORD, N.Y. — Two Waterford water treatment plant employees pleaded guilty to charges they padded their paychecks with bogus overtime costs for three years, WNYT.com reported.
William R. Hubbell, 28, and his father, William M. Hubbell, 60, admitted to stealing $39,000 through a scheme in which they fabricated municipal water emergencies and then billed the community overtime for responding to them, the article stated.
The younger Hubbell pleaded guilty Monday to the misdemeanor charge of petit larceny for stealing $7,000.
His father had previously pleaded guilty to felony third-degree first-degree grand larceny charges for taking $32,000 and falsifying business records.
