Breakthrough products come from breakthrough companies and since its inception in 1962, Stamford, Conn.-based Omega Engineering Inc. has grown from manufacturing a single product line of thermocouples to offering more than 100,000 state-of-the-art products for measurement and control of temperature, humidity, pressure, strain, force, flow, level, pH and conductivity, as well as data acquisition, automation and electric heating — not to mention custom engineering products and services.
The Breakthrough Product award-winning PX709 submersible pressure transducer was introduced second quarter 2012. Omega says it has features previously unavailable for process control, tank measurement and waste management applications, including high accuracy and use of fused cable and a conduit option, heavy duty housing, reversed polarity protection and lightning protection to IEC-61000-4-5 (Level 4). Output selections are 4-20ma, 0-5VDC and mv/V.
Thus the PX709’s notable features include accuracy at 0.2% standard and 0.08% optional. Rugged construction minimizes the kind of damage that might otherwise come from deployment into wells, riverbeds and industrial and remote storage tanks. The units are CE-approved to Industrial Specification EN16326-1:2006, providing immunity to switching pumps, valves, power supplies and noise-generating devices. Their reversed polarity protection comes with the option of full lightning protection to IEC-61000-4-5 (Level 4) for exposed environments.
