Introduced in February, the VLM10 Inline Vortex Mass Flowmeter from Spirax Sarco is for mass, volumetric and energy flow measurement on steam, liquid and gas applications in sizes 1 inch to 12 inches.
The VLM10 combines an inline vortex meter, a built-in flow computer and an integral temperature sensor, giving users an all-in-one solution for their metering needs.
Spirax Sarco says the VLM10 is the first steam meter with a Web interface for meter configuration, monitoring the meter’s health, and log flow. Special software is not required to access the Web interface. Many building automation systems use BACnet as their communication protocol; VLM10 is the only steam meter that provides the BACnet protocol, the company says. The fully welded, no-gasket design is an excellent choice for safe measurement of steam, since there is no leak path to the electronics or to the atmosphere.
The VLM10 is said to be precise and reliable, with a steam or gas mass flow accuracy of ± 1.5% of range over a wide 20:1 flow range. The fully welded, no-gasket design, ensures safe measurement of steam and allows the sensors and RTD to be removed without having to shut down the line first. The built-in Web server allows users to monitor flow and monitor meter health through the Internet. Digital communications delivers information on demand using Modbus RTU, BACnet MS/TP or Modbus TCP/IP technology with standard analog and pulse outputs. The VLM10 is available in a wide range of connections and pressure ranges.
