Vanton-Pump_Mobile-Pump-Tank-CartA non-metallic Mobile Pump/Tank Cart from Hillside, N.J.-based Vanton Pump & Equipment Corp. receives the Breakthrough Product award.

Vanton is a maker of thermoplastic pumps and systems engineered to solve corrosive, abrasive and ultrapure pumping problems. That means the wet end components of its pumps are made from corrosion- and abrasion-resistant engineered plastics and comprised of solid, thick-sectioned, stand-alone components. Vanton pumps are used for transfer, neutralization, disinfection, dosing, effluent collection, lift station, odor control and other applications.

The cart offers multiple levels of protection whether used to collect unknown wastes or to transfer ultrapure fluids, says the company. All fluid contact components are molded or fabricated of solid homogeneous thermoplastics and elastomers that are inert to acids and caustics spanning the entire pH range, eliminating corrosion of the tanks and the pump, which is self priming and can run dry with no damage.

Non-metallic construction of all wetted components also eliminates ionization/contamination of reagent grade chemicals and ultrapure fluids. Finally, the secondary tank is sized and blocked to provide ample void space between it and the main tank, to contain a catastrophic leak. Sensors positioned between walls are linked to a controller, which activates visual and audible alarms. All fluid contact surfaces of the tank, base plate and secondary containment chamber are of solid polypropylene, polyethylene, PVC or other inert thermoplastic, precluding chemical attack across the entire pH range.
