MISHAWAKA, Ind. — Bayer HealthCare announced Wednesday that it is selling its manufacturing site in Mishawaka, Ind., to Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, the South Bend Tribune reported.

The facility produces diabetes diagnostic equipment used by labs around the world.

Siemens expects to retain 130 of the 400 hourly union and salaried jobs, the article stated.

“We understand that change of this nature can be extremely difficult for those who are impacted. However, we believe that the agreement we reached with Siemens is one that does as much as possible to preserve continuity for our employees and for this community,” said Wayne Krampel, vice president of global product supply for Bayer Diabetes Care.
