According to the Associated Press, BP PLC said recently it broke ground on a wind farm in Kansas.
The first phase of the project, located about 60 miles southwest of Wichita, is expected to generate up to 100 megawatts of electricity starting at the end of the year.
Once the turbines are in place, Westar Energy Inc. will own 50 percent of the wind farm and buy half the power produced from BP through a long-term agreement.
