WINNIPEG, Canada — A chemical-fuelled fire erupted Monday at a fiberglass window and door manufacturing facility in Winnipeg, destroying parts of the building and nearly killing firefighters, The Winnipeg Free Press reported.

As firefighters were fighting the blaze Monday morning at the Omniglass production plant, an explosion rocked the facility and tore off parts of the roof and split the walls of the 60,000-square-foot building.

Eight firefighters were forced to evacuate following the explosion and one was taken to a hospital. He was released later Monday.

Damage at the plant is estimated at $15 million CAN.
