BEIJING — The death toll from an explosion at a chemical plant in Shijiazhuang, China, last week has risen to 25 with another 46 injured, AFP reported.

Authorities originally said 16 people were killed in the blast at the Hebei Zhaoxian Keeper Chemical Co. plant in northern China last Tuesday.

The explosion occurred during the production of guanidine nitrate, a high-energy fuel and propellant.

The impact of the explosion was felt in at least three nearby villages, state media reported.
