Del Monte moves peach processing facility to Modesto, Calif.

MODESTO, Calif. — Del Monte Foods will move its peach processing operation to a new state-of-the-art plant in Modesto, Calif., next year, The Modesto Bee reported.

The company will close its 90-year-old peach cannery operation in Kingsburg, which will result in the loss of 70 full-time and about 1,100 seasonal jobs.

"We''ve begun working with our third-party vendors to let them know if we will be transitioning their services for use in our Modesto facility," said Del Monte spokeswoman Chrissy Stengel.
