The Associated Press reports that Delek US Holdings has confirmed that one man has died of injuries sustained in a Tyler, Texas, oil refinery explosion. The explosion and subsequent fire broke out injuring at least six people. A spokeswoman for Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas says a 49-year-old employee from Tyler died of his injuries from the Delek refining plant incident and another worker remains in critical condition at Parkland. Delek said the company is still working to identify the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage. The Tyler Fire Captain told the Tyler Morning Telegraph that plant firefighters are still monitoring a small residual fire that could burn for days. The company halted production at the refinery, which employs about 270 and refines up to 60,000 barrels of crude per day. It is the 94th-largest oil refinery in the U.S., according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
