The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) today dedicated its new Business Services Center buildings and campus, located on Patrick Road in Midland adjacent to Dow’s corporate headquarters. The 205,000 square-foot Center will accommodate 1250 Dow and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employees.

Dow Chairman and CEO Andrew N. Liveris, members of Dow’s executive leadership team, community and state leaders and more than 300 guests came together to honor the former Dow leaders for whom the buildings were dedicated to. Following the dedication ceremony, those in attendance also had an opportunity to tour the facilities to get a closer look at the Dow/TCS alliance and an overview of Dow products used in the construction of the buildings.

Branch, Barnes and Gerstacker Remembered

Dow has a tradition of recognizing its leaders through building dedications, including the Barstow Building (2020), Bennett Building (2030), and Strosacker Building (2040) at its Midland Corporate Headquarters. Dow’s Corporate Center is named after Willard H. Dow and the Company’s Research and Development campus in Midland is dedicated to Ted Doan. Both men are former Dow Presidents.

The new Center was dedicated to three past Dow executives who exemplified what the project represents: innovation, integrity and commitment.

  • The campus area is now known as the Ben Branch Campus. Charles “Ben” Branch served as president and CEO 1971 – 1976, and boldly led the company to expand in overseas markets.
  • The North Building has become the Earle B. Barnes Building. Earle served as Dow chairman of the board of directors 1979 –1982, and helped set the stage for Dow’s growth as a specialty products provider.
  • The South Building is now the Carl A. Gerstacker Building. Carl was Dow’s chairman of the board of directors 1960 – 1976, and provided distinguished leadership during a time of major international growth.

Painting a Bright Future for the Great Lakes Bay Region

“Former Dow leaders Ben Branch, Earle Barnes and Carl Gerstacker embodied the vision, innovation and leadership the Business Services Center and its campus represents, and we are honored to pay tribute to these men today,” said Liveris. “Just as each of them served as a model for doing business differently and doing it better, this Center provides the industry-leading services and resource flexibility that will take our Company to the next level of world-class customer capabilities.”

The Business Services Center is part of a global network of service centers that provide activities in a variety of areas such as Purchasing, Finance, Supply Chain, Customer Service, EH&S, Information Technology, and others.

“This facility represents Dow’s commitment to make the Great Lakes Bay Region a leader in the state’s economic revival,” said David E. Kepler, Executive Vice President, Business Services, Chief Sustainability Officer, Chief Information Officer. “The new campus was built with sustainability in mind, reflecting state-of-the-art design and construction techniques to reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.”
