Dozens hospitalized after chlorine leak at tomato canning plant

WOODLAND, Calif. — At least 40 people were hospitalized on Sunday after being exposed to chlorine dioxide gas that escaped from a tomato canning plant in Woodland, Calif., CBS Sacramento reported.

The gas began leaking from the Pacific Coast Producers Plant around noon and spread quickly into nearby neighborhoods.

Two of the victims were seriously injured, according to police.
