According to the Associated Press, generic drug company Mylan Inc. is cutting jobs at a plant in central Puerto Rico.
City of Caguas spokesman Carlos Rosario said recently that 100 jobs will be eliminated in coming weeks. The company has declined to specify the number of layoffs.
Rosario said no further cuts are expected at the plant, which employs about 500 people.
Mylan had announced in February that it would be eliminating jobs at five locations as part of a companywide restructuring.
Pittsburgh-based Mylan is the latest pharmaceutical company to announce cuts in Puerto Rico. The industry has eliminated more than 3,000 jobs here since mid-2006.
