Eastman Chemical Raising Production of Cellulose Triacetate

The Associated Press reports, Eastman Chemical Co. has announced plans to add production of cellulose triacetate at its Kingsport site. The material is used in the liquid crystal display industry in the manufacture of polarizer films for computers, televisions, monitors and handheld devices. The project will increase Eastman''s total CTA capacity by almost 70 percent. The company said in a news release that startup is expected in the first quarter 2012. A company spokeswoman said the addition would require no new positions but will require new resources to complete the expansion.
