SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. — Emergency crews responded to a fire Wednesday morning at the Penn Carbose Inc. chemical plant in Somerset County, Pa., WeAreCentralPa.com reported.

The company manufactures technical grade sodium carboxymethylcellulose, which is used in consumer products such as baby diapers and detergents.

Firefighters arrived as smoke was billowing from the building and proceeded to rip out the ductwork where the fire was spreading.
