NEW YORK — A gas compressor problem at an Exxon Mobil Corp. refinery in Beaumont, Texas, on Sunday resulted in a release of hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide, Dow Jones Newswires reported.

The emissions were routed to the plant''s coker unit flare stack with no offsite impact reported at the time of the filing to the National Response Center on Sunday.

"Operators are trying to upset the compressor to reduce the flaring," the filing said.

It isn''t clear whether the event had or continues to have an impact on operations at the 344,000-barrel-a-day refinery.
