Reuters reports that H.J. Heinz is considering expanding its plants in Poland to raise supplies to western markets and take advantage of lower costs in the biggest European Union newcomer, a spokeswoman said on Friday. Heinz Poland''s Dorota Poninska, however, denied media reports the company had plans to cut output from its western European plants while boosting its facilities in Poland. Heinz, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has two plants in Poland, based in Pudliszki, near the western city of Poznan.The two plants employ 670 workers and their joint revenues reached 266 million zlotys ($73 million) last year. Poland joined the EU along with nine other states on May 1.
