STOCKHOLM — Israeli scientist Dan Shechtman has been named the winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work in the field of crystallography, Haaretz Daily Newspaper reported.
Shechtman, a professor at Haifa’s Technion Institute, was honored for his 1982 discovery of atom patterns called quasicrystals, chemical structures previously thought impossible.Shechtman is the tenth Israeli to win the Nobel Prize.
