TOKYO — Japan’s Tosoh Corp. is planning to restart its No. 3 vinyl chloride monomer plant, which was damaged when a fire hit the Nanyo complex last November, Reuters reported.
The 400,000-tons-per-year facility is expected to resume operations around July 6.
On May 8, Tosoh restarted the No. 1 vinyl chloride monomer plant, which had also been shut down following the fire.
The company has not announced when it will restart its No. 2 monomer plant.
At full capacity, the Nanyo complex can produce a total of 1.2 million tons per year of vinyl chloride, accounting for about a third of the nation’s total capacity.
