BRISTOL, Pa. — Lightning struck two chemical storage tanks at Dow Chemical’s Rohm and Haas plant in Bristol, Pa., Wednesday morning, sparking a fire that burned for nearly two hours, Philly.com reported.
The tanks contained ethyl acrylate and butyl acrylate, both of which are used in the manufacture of a coating product used in paints.
Lighting struck the tanks at about 3:35 a.m. and the fire appeared to be mostly under control by about 5:15 a.m., the article stated.
“We do not anticipate any health impact to the community,” Dow said in a statement.
