In June of 2003, the new LPP hose pump was introduced. Conventional peristaltic pumps typically have a fixed shoe design which is friction-based, and compresses a hose in the pump to force the fluid through the hose. The LPP pump has a completely new operational design which has a cam and roller arrangement which rolls over the hose to push the liquid through the hose. By rolling over the hose, the user eliminates the high torque required by friction-based hose pumps. This is a significant advancement in hose pumps because it reduces energy costs and increases hose life by 40 to 60 percent. The pump is also much smaller due to lower horsepower requirements.
