GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. — Odors from the Green Valley wastewater plant are generating complaints from local residents as the town expands around the plant, according to the Green Valley News.
The county has had to take control of the situation to try and reduce the amount of smell coming from the outdoor sludge drying pads, stated the article.
“We did start receiving some (odor) complaints over the last few years. We had not received any prior to that. As growth is getting closer to the plant, what was an acceptable means of treating wastewater 10 years ago may not be acceptable now,” said Eric Wieduwilt, deputy director of planning and engineering for the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department.
