PepsiCo receives the 2012 Stockholm Industry Water Award

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — Presented in a ceremony taking place during the World Water Week in Stockholm, PepsiCo received the Stockholm Industry Water Award for its work to reduce water consumption in its operations and to help solve water challenges on a broad scale.

The Stockholm Industry Water Award was established in 2000 by the Stockholm International Water Institute in collaboration with the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. Organizers say The World Water Week in Stockholm is an important annual meeting place for those addressing the planet’s most urgent water-related issues.

The Stockholm Industry Water Award jury recognizes PepsiCo''s efforts to increase water conservation. Speakers noted that the global food and beverage company conserved nearly 16 billion liters of water in 2011, from a 2006 baseline, through the application of water-saving equipment and technologies, creative recycling and re-use, and by deploying a water management system throughout its manufacturing facilities.
