Valves for highly abrasive, heavy-duty material handling
Salina, Kan.-based Vortex Valves engineers and manufactures slide gates, diverters and iris valves for handling dry bulk powders, pellets, granules and aggregates. Since 1977, it has worked with 15,000 plants in the food, chemical, mineral, mining and power generation industries.
Vortex’ Titan Series line of valve products for heavy-duty material handling was announced this summer. Vortex says users are looking for more robust valve products for handling abrasive materials and aggregates.
The TLD Diverter is the latest product in Vortex’s Titan Series and the company says it handles highly abrasive materials such as cement, clinker, coal, fly ash, sand, gravel, glass and limestone in gravity-flow applications. In its development, Vortex engineers collaborated with mineral, mining and power-generation professionals.
With the leading edge of its flap set outside of the material flow stream, the TLD Diverter abates the effects of blast abrasion over time.
The interior surfaces of the valve are protected with removable and replaceable abrasion- resistant steel or polymer liners, offering a straightforward means to protect the valve from costly rebuilds or replacement.
The TLD is available in a wide range of square and rectangular sizes up to 56 inches (1.4m). Customized variations such as unique off-leg angles, high-temperature modifications and other application specific requirements are also available.
