With Eriez Eddy Current Separators, customers can obtain a single pass aluminum flake reduction up to 92 percent and achieve a clean PET yield of 97 to 99 percent. Eriez Eddy Current Separators answer today's PET bottle, carpet and packaging producers' demands for high purity, post consumer, recycled plastic to reduce material costs and support their environmental initiatives. In operation, PET flake and plastic regrind containing nonferrous contaminants (such as aluminum) is fed onto a conveyor belt in a controlled, low density, singulated layer. The belt then passes over the rotating magnets and eddy currents are created around the aluminum, causing the trajectory of the nonferrous metal to be different than the plastic. The two streams of material are separated by an adjustable splitter in a simple, high volume and efficient manner.
