Automatic Sludge Blanket Level Detector

April 2, 2013

Markland_Automatic_Sludge_Blanket_Level_DetectorThe Automatic Sludge Blanket Level Detector from Markland Specialty Engineering helps industrial plants monitor interface levels in clarifiers and other tanks and automate sludge removal. The level detector uses high-intensity infrared light beams to help monitor interface levels in clarifiers and settlement tanks (including lamellas, DAF thickeners, decanting tanks and sequencing batch reactors) when treating incoming process water or wastewater (including backwash from sand/membrane filters). It allows users to program sludge removal pumps to operate only when necessary -- thus preventing carryover, avoiding pumping thin sludge/large volumes of water, optimizing sludge density before subsequent processing and improving outflow for reuse. It provides data that may indicate inefficient polymer/chemical dosing.
