Air Products, Air Liquide ink China deal

According to the Associated Press, industrial gas provider Air Products & Chemicals Inc. said last week it teamed with France''s Air Liquide SA to supply bulk gases to Beijing BOE Optoelectronics Technology Co. for use in making flat panel screens for televisions, computer monitors and cell phones. Financial details of the long-term agreement were not disclosed. Air Products and Air Liquide will form a 50-50 joint venture and invest $30 million to build an air separation unit in the Beijing Economic Technological Development Area which will make and supply ultra-pure nitrogen for Beijing BOE, as well as 430 tons per day of liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon for the merchant market. The facility is slated to begin production in the second half of 2005.
