SEATTLE — An ammonia leak at the Darigold milk processing plant in Seattle forced evacuations of nearby businesses and caused a massive traffic jam, the Seattle Times reported.
At 7:35 a.m., workers “reported a large boom and saw a large cloud,” Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore said.
Hazmat crews were called in to ventilate the facility.
“We shut off a two block perimeter, evacuated a strip mall and a daycare center,” Moore said.
