AODD Pumps Used Extensively in Gulf Oil Cleanup Efforts

June 23, 2010

Due to the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the company has seen an increase in orders for its air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps. Specifically, the pump receiving the most attention is the Wilden Original™ Series Metal PX8 pumps. The pumps feature a robust, utilitarian design and reliable operational capabilities that are required for use in harsh environments. The pumps being used in the cleanup efforts in the Gulf of Mexico feature port sizes of 51mm and have the ability to handle flow rates up to 181 gpm at working pressures reaching 125 psi. Their maximum suction-lift capability is 24.4-feet. The pumps are available in aluminum, ductile-iron and stainless-steel construction with non-wetted housings of aluminum and stainless steel. Elastomer options include Buna-N®, Viton®, EPDM™, Neoprene, PTFE and Polyurethane, among others. The pump’s clamped configuration ensures reliability without sacrificing ease of maintenance.
