Boy drowns at water treatment plant
SEABOARD, N.C. — A 12-year-old boy drowned Friday after falling into a holding pond for treated wastewater at a water treatment plant in Seaboard, WRAL.com reported.
Labrone Wade was playing with friends near the facility on Friday afternoon when he slipped and fell into the 8- to 10-foot-deep pond.
Wade''s friends attempted to pull him from the water, but a water pump in the pond created a strong current that pulled the boy away.
Authorities recovered the Wade''s body shortly before 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
