Caterpillar to close South African plant
August 3, 2009
Heavy equipment maker Caterpillar Inc. will close a manufacturing facility in South Africa as it realigns its operations with sagging global demand, according to the Associated Press. Caterpillar said it will offer severance and training assistance to the 193 employees whose jobs will be affected by the closure of the plant in Boksburg, South Africa. The facility will be closed by the end of August.
