September 19, 2012

LEXINGTON, Ky. — A Chinese industrial processing equipment company is planning to open a manufacturing plant in Lexington, Ky., next year, Kentucky.com reported.

Birtley, a subsidiary of Shandong Borun Industrial Processing Equipment, expects its coal-processing equipment manufacturing facility to employ 30 to 50 workers when it opens in early 2013.

The company, which has three manufacturing plants in China, has bought 5.7 acres in the Blue Grass Business Park and plans to invest $10 million to build a 67,500-square-foot building.

Birtley said it will hire engineers and technicians to help manufacture the company’s products, which are used in coal preparation, mineral processing and the power, steel and cement industries.

"We''re thrilled to see a company from China locate here, invest in the commonwealth and provide jobs to Kentuckians," said Gov. Steve Beshear.
