Compass Minerals workers end strike
Salt producer Compass Minerals International Inc. said last Thursday that 350 striking workers will return to a Canadian salt mine after ratifying a new labor deal with the company, the Associated Press reports. Details of the agreement were not released. The strike began April 14. Company managers and supervisors kept limited operations going at the mine in Goderich, Canada. The company said it had large inventories of deicing salt when the strike started, and no significant impact on 2006 financial results is expected from the strike.
