Contractor cleared of wrongdoing in wastewater plant explosion
EDMONDS, Wash. — Washington state investigators have cleared a general contractor of potential workplace safety violations in connection to a propane tank explosion at an Edmonds, Wash.-area water treatment plant in February, HeraldNet.com reported.
The Feb. 23 explosion at the Alderwood Water and Wastewater District sparked a fire, which injured five people and caused more than $1 million in damage.
Fire investigators determined the explosion happened while a crane was moving the 1,000-gallon propane tank.
A Department of Labor and Industries probe of the incident found no violations by general contractor Apollo Inc. However, propane company Ferrellgas is still under investigation.
