Controversial poultry plant gets approval

March 7, 2012

NASH COUNTY, Tenn. — The Nash County, Tenn., Board of Commissioners has approved a resolution that supports the construction of a controversial Sanderson Farms poultry processing plant, reported.

Residents who oppose the resolution say the plant would damage the area’s water supply.

According to the resolution, the plant could create 1,100 job opportunities and bring in additional tax revenue.

Sanderson Farms has not given a timeline for building the poultry processing plant and related facilities and has not made a final decision on the location.
