The Associated Press reports that a spokeswoman for a joint petrochemicals venture between Dow Chemical Co. and a Kuwaiti company says the search is narrowing for a headquarters site in Michigan. K-Dow Petrochemicals spokeswoman Catherine Maxey said Tuesday the company is considering five locations in Wayne, Washtenaw and Oakland counties and has received requested proposals from property owners. She expects a decision by the end of the year. Midland-based Dow and Petrochemical Industries Co. say the facility eventually would employ 800 people. Officials say they want access to international flights at Detroit Metropolitan Airport and schools where the children of employees can speak Arabic. K-Dow will make plastics for numerous uses, including consumer products, automotive parts and drug processing.
