Bloomberg reports that Dow Chemical Co., the largest U.S. chemical maker, lost power at its St. Charles plant in Louisiana. No injuries were reported. Dow has a steam cracker, also referred to as an ethylene cracker, at the plant. Ethylene crackers process natural gas liquids or naphtha into basic petrochemicals used in plastics. The St. Charles plant is owned by Union Carbide Corp., a subsidiary of Dow.
