Dow Chemical Co. is looking abroad for more growth and expansion, including hiring another 600 staffers at its new research facility in China, Chief Executive Andrew Liveris said. The Associated Press reports that China is Dow Chemical''s third-biggest market after the United States and Germany, and the new hires would bring to the number of the company’s workers there to 1,000. The Midland, Michigan-based company makes chemicals used in coatings, household and agricultural products. Dow Chemical''s sales in China reached US$2.3 billion in 2005, compared with US$2.2 billion the year before. The company has invested some US$1 billion since the 1980s.
