Eni, Congo Republic sign oil sands deal

According to Reuters, Italian oil company Eni SpA signed an accord with the Republic of Congo recently for exploration and development of an oil sands field at Tchikatanga and Tchikatanga-Makola in the African nation.

Studies of a 100-square-km section of the field indicate recoverable reserves of between 500 million and 2.5 billion barrels, Eni Chief Executive Paolo Scaroni and Republic of Congo Energy Minister Bruno Itoua said.
