Explosions rock Michigan chemical plant

A series of explosions rocked a Michigan chemical plant Tuesday night, August 9, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of residents in Romulus, Michigan. According to the Associated Press, authorities reported no serious injuries from the fire which broke out at E.Q. Resource Recovery Inc., which specializes in treating, recycling and disposing of hazardous materials such as airplane deicing fluid and industrial paint solvents. A plant spokesman said one of the facility''s two tank farms had been completely destroyed. Eight employees were working at the plant when an emergency horn sounded. None requested medical treatment.
