FEP Convoluted Tubing Eliminates the Need for Splicing
May 24, 2010
The FEP convoluted tubing comes in sizes from 1/4 to 4-inch in O.D, and unlike PTFE convoluted, FEP convoluted tubing can be extruded in lengths up to 1,000 feet continuous. In addition to standard FEP convoluted tubing, Mil Spec style SAE AMS-T-81914 is available in regular or close convolution. The convolutions in the FEP tube create a flexible tube that can turn corners and be routed through tight areas without kinking or collapsing, according to the manufacturer. Spring wire can be added if additional crush resistance is needed. FEP convoluted operates in temperatures up to 400 degrees F and has very good chemical- and corrosion-resistance. It is also extremely clear and aids in visual inspection of the media flowing through the tube.
