Fire breaks out at Shanghai petrochemical plant

SHANGHAI — A fire broke out late Thursday evening in an alkene production facility at the Shanghai Secco Petrochemical Co., Xinhua News Agency reported.

Firefighters worked through the night to extinguish the fire and prevent the flames from spreading to other facilities.

No injuries were reported.

Secco is a chemical plant jointly invested in by BP East China Investment Co. Ltd., Sinopec Corp. and Shanghai Petrochemical Co., Ltd.
