EASTON, Penn. — A fire erupted at a chemical plant near Easton, Penn., Monday night, engulfing a building at the plant and spreading a plume of smoke across a wide area, lehighvalleylive.com reported.
The Rockwood Pigments plant makes pigments used by the concrete and other industries.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
"It appears that it''s a vacant building on that property," Northampton County Director of Emergency Management Robert Mateff said. "So there''s no hazardous materials risk at this point.
